U.S. Energy Secretary Attends Inaugural Ceremony of the Turkey-Greece-Italy Gas Interconnector

On Sunday, November 18, U.S. Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman and U.S. Ambassador to Greece Daniel Speckhard traveled to the Greek-Turkish border for the inauguration ceremony of the Turkey-Greece-Italy natural gas inter-connector. Greek Prime Minister Karamanlis, Turkish PM Erdogan, and Azerbaijan President Aliyev were in attendance. Secretary Bodman offered his congratulations on a pipeline that represents the first link between Azerbaijan and Caspian gas suppliers to European consumers: “I want to pay special tribute to the Turkish and Greek people for the cooperation they have shown in this project,” he said.
