Greek and American Dignitaries Visit the USS Harry S. Truman

Athens (December 4, 2007) -- While transiting the Mediterranean Sea with its escort of U.S. Navy ships on November 28, the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Harry S. Truman was host to sixteen Greek dignitaries led by Deputy Minister of Defense Ioannis Plakiotakis, as well as to new U.S. Ambassador Daniel V. Speckhard. The visitors flew to the ship from Souda Bay, Crete, the location of the U.S. Naval Support Activity, in specially-equipped American aircraft. After completing their tour of the Truman and observing flight operations, the visitors experienced the excitement of a catapult launch from the carrier flight deck.
