U.S. Visa Waiver Program Team Visits Greece
Athens (July 7, 2009) -- In follow-up to the recent Visa Waiver Program agreements signed at Corfu on June 28, 2009, a team led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Visa Waiver Program Office is visiting Greece July 7-13 to meet with Greek counterparts in the Ministries of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Merchant Marine, as well as to visit various points of entry to Greece. Such assessment visits occur in all Visa Waiver Program countries.
As Deputy Secretary James Steinberg said after signing the Visa Waiver Program agreements between the U.S. and Greece in Corfu: “These agreements that we’ve reached today are helping pave the way for a very important milestone in our relationship, which is the completion of the Visa Waiver Program.
