Anniversary of Rocket Attack
January 10, 2008
One year ago, on January 12, 2007, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, resulting in minor damage to the building. A reward of up to $1 million is still being offered for information leading to the successful resolution of this attack through the State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” program.
A group calling itself Revolutionary Struggle claimed responsibility shortly after last year’s attack. There have been no arrests in connection with the on-going investigation, despite the efforts of the Greek government.
Since the inception of “Rewards for Justice” in 1984, the U.S. government has paid over $77 million to over 50 people who provided actionable information that put terrorists in prison or prevented acts of international terrorism worldwide. More information on the program is available at www.rewardsforjustice.net or through the U.S. Embassy in Athens.
