Ambassador Daniel Speckhard’s Remarks in Response to a Press Question after Meeting with Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis

This is was actually a routine diplomatic meeting.  The Minister will be going to New York for the UN General Assembly, and will be seeing my Secretary.  We talked about preparations for her meeting with Secretary Clinton.  We talked about the meeting coming up later this fall of the OSCE,  for which Greece is the Chairman in Office and Greece will be hosting all of the members and we talked about the preparations about that meeting are going.

We also talked about the the Economic and Commercial Cooperation Commission,  which is an economic bilateral commission between the U.S. and Greece.

Greece will be also hosting that meeting here in Athens later this fall.  And we were talking about strengthening economic ties between our two countries. So, it was a very routine diplomatic meeting mostly in preparation for upcoming forthcoming diplomatic engagements between Greece and the United States.
