Ambassador Speckhard discusses legacy of Ted Kennedy on SKAI TV
August 27, 2009
Yesterday the United States lost a great public servant and legislator, Senator Edward Kennedy. As President Obama said, “For five decades, virtually every major piece of legislation to advance the civil rights, health and economic well being of the American people bore his name and resulted from his efforts.” Although known as the standard bearer for liberal causes, Senator Kennedy had a unique ability to reach across the aisle on issues such as immigration and educational reform. He was also a life-long champion of health care access for all. Senator Kennedy inspired the U.S. and the world with his faith, optimism, and courage in the face of his illness. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, his many friends, and the constituents whom he served so well.
