How to Contact the Federal Benefits Unit

OPTION 1 - Send us an email at FBU.Athens@ssa.gov . Before sending the email, please follow directions on the Frequently Asked Questions on our website.  When you send an email, include in the Subject Line of the email the name of the worker and the last four digits of the worker’s Social Security number.  In the email, please provide the following:

  1. Last name and first name
  2. Street Address
  3. Phone Number
  4. Last four digits of Social Security Number
  5. Date of Birth
  6. Subject

We will do our best to answer within ten business days

OPTION 2 - You can call us at 210-720-2426 from 08:30 to 12:30 Monday, Wednesday and Friday except for Greek and American Holidays and the last Wednesday of the month. Before calling the Federal Benefits Unit, please follow directions on the Frequently Asked Questions on our website.  When you call, have the following information available:

  1.  Last name and first name
  2. Street Address
  3. Phone Number
  4. Last four digits of Social Security Number
  5. Date of Birth
  6. Subject

 We will do our best to answer within ten business days

Before sending a fax or writing a letter, please follow directions on the Frequently Asked Questions on our website. 

In your letter or fax please provide the following information:

  1. Last name and first name
  2. Street Address
  3. Phone Number
  4. Last four digits of Social Security Number
  5. Date of Birth
  6. Subject

We will answer your letter or fax request in the order we receive them.  Please do not follow-up as this causes further delays.
