U.S. B-Boys Spin the Message Against Drugs and Violence
A packed theater of kids, as young as 6 years old, cheered for two of the top American break dancers (bboys), “Ronnie” and “Rockadile,” winners of the “MTV America’s Best Dance Crew 2008” competition, as they took the stage for the annual “Battle of the Best” break dancing competition. The two break dancers were judges for the dance competition that featured “battles” between top Greek break dancing solo dancers and trios, all competing for “Best bboys” of the year. During the competition breaks, Ronnie and Rockadile brought audiences to their feet with their amazing routines. The competition drew hundreds of youth with an interesting pop and street culture, many of whom stayed after the event to get photos and autographs from the American bboy stars. CAO Diana Brown presented the award to the solo bboy competition winner. PA Athens and the U.S. Consulate in Thessaloniki organized a series of workshops with Ronnie and Rockadile in Thessaloniki, Drama and Athens, attracting dozens of dancers and crowds of interested youth. During the workshops, the two bboys delivered a message against drugs and violence and emphasized how following a healthy lifestyle is an integral part of being a good break dancer.
