Ambassador Speckhard Visits Affected Sites
On August 31 Ambassador Speckhard visited sites affected by the fires with team from the Embassy. Starting from Varnava, Ambassador Speckhard visited Grammatiko, Marathonas, Kalentzi, Agios Steafanos, Drosia, Dionysos, and Pandeli. Near Gramamtiko the Ambassador met by chance a fireman and heard first hand of the fire fighting efforts. The Embassy is exploring ways that it can assist the affected areas in their reforestation and fire prevention efforts.
