Holiday Cheer for Immigrant Children in Athens
On November 22, Ambassador Speckhard, along with 40 members of the embassy community, visited "Kivotos tou Kosmou", or the Ark, an after school and weekend program for underprivileged Greek and immigrant children.
For the seventh year in a row, the embassy shared our Thanksgiving holiday with the children of the Ark, serving them a turkey dinner. The Ambassador toured the Ark's new facility, which feeds, clothes, teaches and counsels hundreds of impoverished children.
The Ambassador and the embassy volunteers spent time with the children and members of the embassy's Marine Corp Detachement entertained them with a dance contest.
