Embassy Welcomes Top American Dance Company
Ambassador and Dr. Speckhard opened their Residence to the artists of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, as well as many Greek friends of the company. The Alvin Ailey group is visiting Athens for a series of performances at the Athens Concert Hall, September 24-27, which will benefit Special Olympics Hellas. During the reception on September 21, Judith Jamison, Artistic Director of the company, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and thanked the Greek audience for their love. Mrs. Joanna Despotopoulou, President of Special Olympics Hellas, expressed her appreciation for the support and generosity of the American dance group and invited guests to be part of the Special Olympics World Summer Games that will take place in Athens in 2011.
