Presidential Delegation at New Acropolis Museum

On June 19-20, Congresswoman Dina Titus from the State of Nevada visited Athens as Presidential Delegation Representative for the opening of the New Acropolis Museum.  The granddaughter of a Greek immigrant, Arthur Constandinos Cathones, who arrived in the United States in 1911 and settled in Tifton, Georgia, Congresswoman Titus is a noted scholar of American and local government.

Before attending the opening ceremony and tour of the new museum with Ambassador Daniel V. Speckhard, the head of the U.S. delegation was received by Prime Minister Karamanlis, Foreign Minister Bakoyiannis, Interior Minister Pavlopoulos, Tourism Minister Markopoulos, and PASOK Leader George Papandreaou.  The two also met with visiting Cypriot President Christofias.
